I started using Trend Micro's PC-Cillin because it was the first antivirus program that had a 'mobile computer' antivirus solution. I have used a Pocket PC for a while now, and I wanted to make sure that it was safe. There were people that scoffed when I told them that I had an AV solution for my Jornada - at the time there were no viruses that affected a Pocket PC or handheld computer. But when they stared to show up, I was ready! Trend Micro was also the first antivirus vendor that I knew about that offered an online virus scan.

One newsletter subscriber sent in their opinion of PC-Cillin:

• I have to say that PC-Cillin has very good tech support as well... they had a fix for me when I had problems with their program and a new home built computer... (seems my version of tmproxy.exe doesn't play nice with Hyper-threading processors) P4 2.6c ghz processor. they emailed the file I needed in less then a day.. ( late sat nite sent email to tech support with info they said to send, had response by 2:30 pm on sunday [next day] ) I was impressed with the quick response and I've had no other problems with their product.

I have no issues with PC-Cillin's ability to find and eliminate viruses; it is an excellent prgram. The only thing I object to is the fact that it is no longer offered as a stand alone program - it is part of a suite, Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security. They have rolled a firewall, spam filter, web site blocker, and spyware blocker into the antivirus program, and even have multiple security setting for notebook computers thrown in. If it detects a virus like SOBIG, it can shut off the computer's network access to prevent it spreading. Might make it difficult to get online to patch the PC, don't you think?
