Panda Antivirus
I used to use Panda Antivirus Platinum as my antivirus solution. I like the fact that it updates 'silently' (it doesn't require me to click on anything to update it) and the updates are done almost every day.
I initially had a minor problem with the automatic updates not working right, and was extremely pleased with the support I got.
Here is one user's experience with Panda tech support (from lockergnome.com):
- "I had some minor problems a while back and it [Panda AntiVirus] was not working right. I e-mailed Panda tech support and they wanted me to call, but it was not toll-free. I e-mailed them back and told them long distance calls are something I just can't afford. They e-mailed me back asking for my home phone number and a time that would be good for them to call me. I e-mailed back the information, thinking I'd never hear from them. Right on that time and date I gave them, I got a call from Panda tech person and he walked me through what was needed to fix what was not working right. I couldn't believe it; they actually called me! Sure won't get that kind of service from Symantec or McAfee. If they cared about their customers, they would give better tech support. When you pay that much for a product, I think you have a right to expect it."
In the interest of full disclosure, I did get an offer from Panda Software to try their program in my office and they would give me a free year of updates for my home PC. I was running Trend Micro's PC-Cillin at the time, and we had a license for all of the PCs in the office. But I am not one to ignore a free offer, so I tried Panda on one computer just so I could get the free year of updates. I thought that if the program didn't work as I expected, I wasn't out any money, so why not?
