How do we end up with all that spam in our inbox? One way is filling out forms on the internet to 'register' with a site. These forms usually save our e-mail address and then use that information to help increase the income of the site we have registered with by selling that information.
I do NOT do this. If you would like to contact me, or sign up for the newsletter, I will manually add your name to the list. This site does not use any automation, it is all done by hand. I will never give out your e-mail address to anyone else, and I will never make a change to that policy.
This is not as insecure as it looks. The whole e-mail address and subject that you see when you click the link below is encrypted so that your e-mail program can use it, but the programs that harvest e-mail addresses from Web Sites cannot read it. I take personal security personally!
I would like to keep you up to date on the security alerts that I keep up to date with, and I offer a newsletter for that very purpose. It is a 'digest' version of the alerts I get. Again, I manually send out the confirmation e-mail to insure that you want the newsletter, and I will not add you to the newsletter list until you respond to that e-mail. I believe in the double opt-in mailing idea - if you tell me you want to be on the list and then reply to my confirmation, I can only assume that you have agreed to get e-mails from me. Either that, or someone has access to your computer and they have signed you up.
If you ever want to stop receiving the newsletter, I will send you a confirmation e-mail that is very simple. If you really do not want the newsletter to be sent to you, you need do nothing. I will ask you why you have chosen to terminate your subscription, but it is up to you to respond to that. If you do NOT want to end your subscription, you will have to reply to the e-mail indicating that it was in error, or else you will be unsubscribed.
The choice is yours. I will have newsletter archives available so you can always stop by and see the latest - but the 'latest' update may be too late. I have missed some important updates and information by not staying on top of the sites that offer updates, and I am not going to do that again.
